Myril Hoag Marquee

Hoag moved from a part-time role with the Yankees to an everyday job in St. Louis and immediately produced his best season. In 1939 he hit .295 with 142 hits, 10 home runs and 75 runs batted in, all career highs, and earned his only American League All-Star selection.

Thirteen seasons gave him 854 hits, 141 doubles, 28 home runs, 401 runs batted in and a .271 average across 1,020 games. He played 876 games in the outfield. His earlier peak with New York came in 1937, when he hit .301 with 109 hits in 106 games.

Hoag spent seven seasons with the Yankees before joining the Browns. St. Louis sent him to the White Sox after one game in 1941, and Chicago sent him to Cleveland during 1944. He made three scoreless pitching appearances late in his career and finished with the Indians in 1945. He died in 1971, at sixty-three.
