Mike González Marquee

b. September 24, 1890 · Boston Braves 1912, Cincinnati Reds 1914, St. Louis Cardinals 1915–1918, 1924–1925, 1931–1932, New York Giants 1919–1921, Chicago Cubs 1925–1929

González's best season came with St. Louis in 1924, when he played 120 games, collected 119 hits, drove in 53 and hit .296. The games, hits, runs batted in and average were all career highs.

Seventeen seasons gave him 717 hits, 123 doubles, 263 runs batted in, 283 runs and a .253 average across 1,042 games. He caught 868 games and played 60 at first base. St. Louis employed him for parts of thirteen seasons, his longest connection to any club.

González began with Boston in 1912 and Cincinnati in 1914 before joining the Cardinals. He also played for the Giants and Cubs, then returned to St. Louis to finish in 1932. He managed 23 Cardinals games across 1938 and 1940, going 9-13. Five Hall of Fame ballots gave him eight total votes. He died in 1977, at eighty-six.
