Miguel Tejada played shortstop for the Oakland Athletics for seven seasons before moving through Baltimore, Houston, San Diego, San Francisco and Kansas City, shifting to third base for part of that run before retiring in 2013.
He batted .285 with 2,407 hits over 2,171 games, hitting 307 home runs and driving in 1,302 runs, remarkable power for a player who spent most of his career at shortstop.
He was named Most Valuable Player in 2002 and took the All-Star Game MVP award in 2005, with two Silver Sluggers in between.
Six All-Star selections ran from 2002 through 2009. He was born in Baní, Dominican Republic, on May 25, 1974, and batted and threw right-handed.
