Pike led the National League with four home runs for Cincinnati in 1877. He collected 78 hits, drove in 23 and scored 45 while batting .298 across 58 games. A year earlier he had hit .323 with 91 hits, 50 runs batted in and 55 runs.

Five recognized major-league seasons gave him 223 hits, 36 doubles, 16 triples, five home runs, 88 runs batted in and a .304 average across 163 games. Pike's last recognized appearance was a single game for the New York Metropolitans in 1887.

Pike had already built a substantial National Association record from 1871 through 1875. The archive lists those 262 games separately: 415 hits, 84 doubles, 37 triples, 16 home runs, 244 runs batted in and a .333 average. He also went 20-51 across 71 games as a manager. Pike received one vote on the 1936 Veterans ballot and died in 1893, at forty-eight.
