Jamie Moyer Marquee

b. November 18, 1962 · Chicago Cubs 1986–1988, Texas Rangers 1989–1990, St. Louis Cardinals 1991, Baltimore Orioles 1993–1995, Boston Red Sox 1996, Seattle Mariners 1996–2006, Philadelphia Phillies 2006–2010, Colorado Rockies 2012

He won 269 games — 34th all-time — across twenty-five seasons and eight clubs, with 2,441 strikeouts and 4,074 innings from 638 starts. He did it without velocity: his fastball sat in the high seventies for most of the second half of his career, and he got batters out by changing speeds and putting the ball where they were not looking.

He was 46-63 through his first eight seasons and was released twice. Seattle signed him in 1996, at thirty-three, and he won 145 games there over eleven years. In 2012, at forty-nine, he won a game for Colorado and became the oldest pitcher to do it.

One All-Star selection in twenty-five years. He won the Roberto Clemente Award in 2003 and the Lou Gehrig and Hutch awards the same year, for a foundation he and his wife ran for children in distress. The writers gave him ten votes of 422 in 2018.
