Jake Peavy pitched for the San Diego Padres for his first eight seasons before a trade to the Chicago White Sox in 2009, and later played for Boston and San Francisco, retiring in 2016.
He went 152-126 with a 3.63 earned run average over 2,377 innings pitched, completing 15 of his 377 starts and throwing 6 shutouts, striking out 2,207 batters.
The 2007 season brought the Cy Young Award and the Pitching Triple Crown together, along with the MLB Players Choice Outstanding Pitcher award and a Sporting News All-Star selection.
Three All-Star teams chose him, in 2005, 2007 and 2012. He came from Mobile, Alabama, born there on May 31, 1981, and pitched right-handed throughout his career.
