Horace Lisenbee Marquee

Lisenbee's rookie year was also his finest. For Washington in 1927 he went 18-9 with a 3.57 earned run average across 242 innings, completed 17 of 34 starts and led the American League with four shutouts. He struck out 105 and finished fifteenth in Most Valuable Player voting.
Eight seasons gave him a 37-58 record, one save, 253 strikeouts and a 4.81 earned run average in 969 innings. He started 107 of his 207 appearances, completed 48 games and threw four shutouts, all of them during that first season.
After two seasons with Washington, Lisenbee spent four with Boston and then went three years without a major-league appearance. He returned for six games with Philadelphia in 1936. Nine more years passed before one final game for Cincinnati in 1945. He died in 1987, at eighty-nine.
