Harry Wolverton Marquee

Wolverton's best season came for Philadelphia in 1903. He hit .308 with 152 hits, scored 72 runs and drove in 53 across 123 games. The hits, runs and runs batted in were career highs, while his .309 average in 1901 remained narrowly better.

Nine seasons gave him 833 hits, 95 doubles, 53 triples, 352 runs batted in and a .278 average across 783 games. He played 756 games at third base and only one at another position, shortstop. He stole 83 bases.

Wolverton began with the Chicago Orphans in 1898 and moved to Philadelphia during 1900. He split 1902 between Washington and the Phillies, played for Boston in 1905 and then spent six years outside the majors. In 1912 he returned as a player-manager for the New York Highlanders, going 50-102 as manager. He died in 1937, at sixty-three.
