George Foster Marquee

George Foster played left field for the San Francisco Giants and then the Cincinnati Reds before finishing his career with the Mets and a brief stop with the White Sox, retiring in 1986.

He hit 348 home runs and batted .274 over 1,977 games, driving in 1,239 runs, a power peak that made him one of the most feared hitters of the late 1970s.

He took the Most Valuable Player award in 1977 and the All-Star Game MVP the year before, with a Silver Slugger following in 1981.

He earned five All-Star selections, from 1976 to 1981, a run that coincided with the best years of his career in Cincinnati. Tuscaloosa, Alabama produced him, on December 1, 1948, and he batted and threw right-handed.
