Gary Sheffield played 22 seasons for eight clubs, moving from third base in Milwaukee and San Diego to the outfield in Florida, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York and Detroit before finishing with the Mets in 2009.

He hit 509 home runs and batted .292 over 2,576 games, with 2,689 hits, 1,676 runs batted in and 1,475 walks. He also stole 253 bases, an unusual number for a hitter of his power.

Five Silver Sluggers came between 1992 and 2005, and he was a Sporting News All-Star on three occasions.

He made nine All-Star teams in total, from 1992 through 2005. Born in Tampa, Florida, on November 18, 1968, he batted and threw right-handed.
