Singleton's largest workload came with Pittsburgh in 1948. He made 38 appearances, five of them starts, and went 4-6 with two saves and 53 strikeouts across 92 innings. The appearances, innings, strikeouts and saves were career highs.
Eight seasons gave him an 11-17 record, four saves, 160 strikeouts and a 4.83 earned run average in 327 innings. Singleton started 19 of his 145 appearances, completed two games and never threw a shutout.
Boston brought Singleton up in 1945, and he moved to Pittsburgh for 1947 and 1948. Washington used him for 21 games in 1950 before another six-season absence from the majors. He returned with the Cubs in 1957 and stayed for three seasons. In his final 1959 campaign, Singleton went 2-1 with a 2.72 average across 43 innings, his lowest mark in a season of at least ten appearances. He died in 1996, at seventy-seven.
