Jones scored a career-high 101 runs for Detroit in 1907, adding 134 hits, 30 stolen bases and 60 walks. It was the strongest season of a long Tigers run and one of three years in which he stole at least 25 bases.
Fifteen seasons gave him 1,020 hits, 98 doubles, 643 runs, 207 stolen bases and a .270 average across 1,090 games. He played 1,007 games in the outfield and drew 478 walks. His best hit total was 140 for the Cubs in 1903, when he also drove in 62 runs.
Jones began with Milwaukee in 1901 and moved through three clubs over the next three seasons before joining Detroit in 1906. After seven years there, he played for the White Sox in 1913 and the Federal League's Pittsburgh Rebels in 1914 and 1915. A final eight-game return to Detroit in 1918 closed his career. He died in 1972, at ninety-one.
