Born October 18, 1951
Texas City, TX, USA
He started 112 games across his first eight seasons with mixed results, then Boston and later Pittsburgh used him almost exclusively in relief, where he found steadier work as a left-hander who could get one batter out and leave.
His best run prevention came with California in 1974, when he recorded a 2.61 earned run average across 162 innings and 22 starts. Fourteen seasons gave him 44 wins, 29 saves, 1,123 innings and a 3.83 earned run average across 387 appearances for six clubs. His career also included 26 complete games and five shutouts.
He finished with St. Louis in 1985 at thirty-three. He died in 2019, at sixty-eight. No Hall of Fame ballot ever listed him.
