He went 14-10 with a 3.10 earned run average in 1923 and 16-11 the year after, the best two seasons of a career spent mostly with Chicago. He was also a capable hitter, batting .220 across his career and getting used off the bench in years he wasn't pitching regularly.
Twelve seasons gave him 64 wins against 62, a 4.18 earned run average, 1,086 innings, 71 complete games and 9 shutouts across four clubs. He was traded twice in 1927 alone, going from Chicago to Philadelphia to St. Louis within months.
He finished with St. Louis in 1928 and made one more appearance for the Giants the following year at twenty-eight, then pitched in the minor leagues for years after. No Hall of Fame ballot ever listed him. He died in 1982, at eighty-one.
