Crowley built a fifteen-season career around part-time work. He appeared in 865 games but totaled only 1,518 at bats, and his fielding record covers just 228 games. His best season came for Baltimore in 1980, when he hit .288 with 67 hits, 12 home runs and 50 runs batted in.
He finished with 379 hits, 62 doubles, 42 home runs, 229 runs batted in, 222 walks and a .250 average. Crowley played 141 games in the outfield and 87 at first base. He never reached 250 at bats in a season.
Baltimore brought Crowley up in 1969 and employed him through 1973. He spent two years with Cincinnati and one with Atlanta before returning to the Orioles for a second six-season stint. Crowley finished with Montreal in 1983. The 1989 Hall of Fame ballot gave him no votes.
