Skip Lockwood Marquee

Kansas City gave him a bonus to play third base in 1964 and he hit .121 in a year of it. He went to the minor leagues to learn to pitch, went into the service, and did not reach the majors again for four years, by which time the club he had signed with was in Oakland and he was in Seattle.

Milwaukee started him for four years and he lost 15 in 1971 and 15 more in 1972 for clubs that could not score. New York put him in the bullpen in 1975 and he was the Mets' closer for four seasons, saving 19 in 1976, 20 in 1977 and 15 in 1978 with an earned run average under 3.00 each time.

Thirteen seasons gave him 57 wins against 97, 68 saves, 1,236 innings and a 3.55 earned run average. He finished in Boston in 1980, went back to school, and became an engineer and a business consultant. No Hall of Fame ballot has listed him.
