Shane Bieber Marquee

b. May 31, 1995 · Cleveland Indians 2018–2021, Cleveland Guardians 2022–2024, Toronto Blue Jays 2025

In the sixty-game 2020 season he went 8-1 with a 1.63 earned run average and 122 strikeouts, the most in all three, which is the pitching Triple Crown. Every one of the thirty voters put him first. He had already been the Most Valuable Player of the 2019 All-Star Game, held in Cleveland in front of his own crowd, the year before.

Eight seasons have given him 66 wins against 34, a 3.24 earned run average, 995 strikeouts in 883 innings and a Gold Glove in 2022. He struck out 259 in 2019 and 198 in 2022, and he did it with command rather than velocity.

Elbow surgery in April 2024 cost him a year and a half. He came back late in 2025 with Toronto and made seven starts. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
