Roy Weatherly Marquee

Weatherly's best season came with Cleveland in 1940. He hit .303 with 175 hits, 12 home runs, 59 runs batted in and 90 runs, all career highs, and finished eleventh in the American League's Most Valuable Player voting.

Ten seasons gave him 794 hits, 152 doubles, 44 triples, 43 home runs, 290 runs batted in and a .286 average. He played 676 games in the outfield. His .335 average as a rookie in 1936 came across 349 at bats and remained the highest of his career.

Weatherly spent seven seasons with Cleveland before moving to the Yankees in 1943. He appeared in only two games for New York after two seasons away from the majors, then sat out three more years. A final 52-game return with the New York Giants in 1950 closed his career. He died in 1991, at seventy-five.
