Ryan's largest workload came for the Giants in 1922, when he went 17-12 with a 3.01 earned run average in 191 innings. He completed 12 games, threw his only career shutout and saved three more. The next year he went 16-5 with four saves and a 3.49 average across 45 appearances.
Ten seasons gave him 52 wins, 47 losses, 19 saves and a 4.14 earned run average in 881 innings. He started 73 games and relieved in most of his other 175 appearances, completing 29. At the plate he collected 51 hits, including eight doubles and one home run, in 268 at bats.
After six seasons with the Giants, Ryan moved to the Boston Braves for 1925 and 1926. He made four appearances for the Yankees in 1928, then returned after five years away to pitch six final games for Brooklyn in 1933. He died in 1980, at eighty-two.
