Ron Gant played left field for the Atlanta Braves for seven seasons before a well-traveled second half of his career took him through Cincinnati, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Anaheim, Colorado, Oakland and San Diego, retiring in 2003.
He hit 321 home runs and stole 243 bases over 1,832 games, batting .256 with 1,651 hits and 1,080 runs scored, a genuinely dual-threat offensive game.
He took a Silver Slugger in 1991, the same year he was named a Sporting News All-Star.
His two All-Star selections came in 1992 and 1995. A right-handed player, Gant came from Victoria, Texas, born there on March 2, 1965. He batted and threw right-handed across a career that carried him through nine different clubs in all.
