Ron Fairly Marquee

He was an All-Star for Montreal in 1973 at thirty-four and for Toronto in 1977 at thirty-eight, the first player either expansion club sent to the game. Twenty-one seasons gave him 1,913 hits, 215 home runs, 1,044 runs batted in, 1,052 walks and a .266 average across 2,442 games.

The first twelve were with the Dodgers, and he played in four World Series for them and won three, driving in six runs in the 1965 Series. He hit .300 exactly once, and got on base constantly without it.

He broadcast games for thirty-one years afterward, for the Angels, Giants and Mariners, which is longer than he played. Two writers' ballots gave him no votes and then three. He died in 2019, at eighty-one.
