He went 22-4 for Boston in 2016 and won the Cy Young Award with 137 points to Justin Verlander's 132, even though Verlander had 14 first-place votes to his 8. Two voters left Verlander off their ballots entirely, which was argued about for a year and changed nothing.
Twelve seasons gave him 150 wins against 125, a 4.40 earned run average, 2,096 innings and 1,561 strikeouts. Detroit brought him up at twenty and he made 31 starts as a rookie, finishing third in the Rookie of the Year voting.
He was never chosen for an All-Star team, which for a Cy Young winner is unusual. He went 17-7 for the 2018 Boston club that won the World Series and started a game of it. He is not yet on a Hall of Fame ballot.
