Pinky Higgins played third base for the Philadelphia Athletics before moving to Boston, then had his longest run with Detroit, and closed out his career with a final season split between Boston and Detroit again, retiring in 1946.

He batted .292 with 1,941 hits over 1,802 games, hitting 140 home runs and driving in 1,075 runs, a productive line sustained across sixteen major-league seasons.

He was a Baseball Magazine All-Star three times and a Sporting News All-Star twice, recognition that ran alongside three genuine All-Star selections.

Those came in 1934, 1936 and 1944. He was born in Red Oak, Texas, on May 27, 1909, and batted and threw right-handed, living until March 21, 1969.
