Milt Pappas Marquee

Baltimore traded him to Cincinnati for Frank Robinson in December 1965. Robinson won the Triple Crown and the Most Valuable Player award in his first season with the Orioles and they won the World Series; Pappas went 12-11. It is one of the trades every club's front office is taught not to make.

On September 2, 1972, pitching for the Cubs, he retired the first twenty-six San Diego batters and then threw four straight balls to Larry Stahl, the last two of them close. He got the no-hitter on the next batter. Seventeen seasons gave him 209 wins against 164, a 3.40 earned run average, 43 shutouts and 3,186 innings.

He was the first pitcher to win 200 games without ever winning 20 in a season — he won 17 twice and 16 three times, and the flat consistency of it is the whole record. Two All-Star selections. He got five votes of 432 in 1979 and died in 2016, at seventy-six.
