Kittridge's value rested overwhelmingly on catching. He appeared in 1,197 games behind the plate and made only one other fielding appearance, a one-inning pitching turn for Chicago in 1896. His best offensive season came with Boston in 1901, when he hit .252 with 96 hits and 40 runs batted in.
Sixteen seasons gave him 882 hits, 108 doubles, 17 home runs, 391 runs batted in and a .219 average across 1,216 games. His longest continuous stay was eight seasons with Chicago from 1890 through 1897.
Kittridge moved from Louisville to the National League's Washington Senators during 1899, then sat out 1900 before joining Boston. Another midseason move took him from Boston to the American League's Senators in 1903. He managed Washington for 18 games in 1904, going 1-16, and finished his playing career with five games for Cleveland in 1906.
