Bevacqua's busiest season came with San Diego in 1979, when he played 114 games and set a career high with 75 hits while batting .253. Six years earlier with Kansas City he drove in a career-high 40 runs and scored 39.

Fifteen seasons gave him 499 hits, 90 doubles, 27 home runs, 275 runs batted in and a .236 average across 970 games. He played 329 games at third base, 133 at second, 129 at first and 72 in the outfield.

Cleveland brought Bevacqua up in 1971, beginning fifteen consecutive major-league seasons. He later represented Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee and Texas before joining San Diego in 1979. A brief return to Pittsburgh interrupted his first Padres stint in 1980 and 1981, after which he finished with four more years in San Diego.
