Jorge Orta played second base for the Chicago White Sox for eight seasons before moving to the outfield in Cleveland and Los Angeles, and finished his career as a designated hitter in Toronto and Kansas City, retiring in 1987.
He batted .278 with 1,619 hits over 1,755 games, hitting 130 home runs and driving in 745 runs across a fifteen-season career spread over five clubs.
His two All-Star selections came in 1975 and 1980, five years apart, spanning his time with the White Sox and Indians.
He was born in Mazatlán, Mexico, on November 26, 1950, and batted left-handed while throwing right, a fifteen-season career that took him from second base to the outfield to designated hitter.
