On September 15, 1963 the San Francisco Giants sent Felipe, Matty and Jesús Alou to the outfield at the same time — the only occasion three brothers have played together in one outfield, and it happened in Jesús's first week in the majors.
He was a contact hitter who almost never walked: 138 in 1,380 games, against 1,216 hits and a .280 average. Houston had him for five seasons, and Oakland acquired him mid-career in time for the championships of 1973 and 1974.
Born in Bajos de Haina in the Dominican Republic in 1942, he finished back with the Astros in 1979 and later scouted for them. He was eighty when he died, in March 2023.
