Heinie Mueller Marquee

Heinie Mueller spent seven seasons in the St. Louis outfield and was on the club that won the 1926 World Series, though he had been traded to the New York Giants that June and so missed it — the deal that sent him east brought Billy Southworth the other way.

He hit .282 across sixteen calendar years and 693 games, mostly as a platoon outfielder, and was fast enough to steal 37 bases and leg out a good share of his 597 hits.

Born in St. Louis in 1899, Mueller finished with the Browns in 1935, back in his home city. He lived to seventy-five, dying in January 1975.
