Harry Walker Marquee

Walker split 1947 between St. Louis and Philadelphia and produced a career year across the move. He hit .363 with 186 hits, 81 runs and 63 walks, led the National League with 16 triples and made his second All-Star team. He finished ninth in the league's Most Valuable Player voting.

Eleven playing seasons gave him 786 hits, 126 doubles, 37 triples, 385 runs and a .296 average across 807 games. He played 691 games in the outfield. His other All-Star selection came in 1943, when he had 166 hits and scored 76 runs for the Cardinals.

Walker later managed St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Houston. His Pirates won 90 games in 1965 and 92 in 1966, finishing third both years. He managed Houston from 1968 through 1972 and went 67-54 in his final partial season there. The 1958 Hall of Fame ballot gave him one vote of 266. He died in 1999, at eighty.
