Born June 10, 1955
Pierre, SD, USA
Houston took him first overall in June 1976 out of Arizona State. In 1982, pitching for a Seattle club that finished fourth and lost 86 games, he struck out 209 men to lead the American League and went 12-13, which is the shape of most of his career.
Fifteen seasons gave him 134 wins against 143, a 4.06 earned run average, 2,388 innings and 1,723 strikeouts. The White Sox signed him after that strikeout title and he won 16 games for the 1983 club that won the division by twenty games.
He pitched two seasons in Japan for the Yakult Swallows at the end. His son Brian pitched briefly in the major leagues. No Hall of Fame ballot has ever listed him.
