Born August 28, 1881
Cleveland, OH, USA
Dode Paskert played center field for fifteen seasons and stole 293 bases doing it, in an era when that was a description of how the game was played rather than a specialty. He reached the World Series with the 1915 Phillies and again with the 1918 Cubs.
Cincinnati brought him up in 1907 and Philadelphia had him for seven seasons, until the Phillies traded him to the Cubs in a deal that brought back Cy Williams, who would go on to lead the National League in home runs four times. Paskert was regarded as one of the better defensive outfielders of the period, and drew 715 walks in a time when hitters rarely did.
Born in Cleveland in 1881, Paskert collected 1,613 hits and scored 868 runs across 1,716 games, and lived until February 12, 1959.
