Darryl Strawberry Marquee

Darryl Strawberry played the first eight seasons of his career with the New York Mets before moving to the Dodgers and the Giants, and finished at designated hitter with the Yankees through his 1999 retirement.

He hit 335 home runs and drove in 1,000 runs over 1,583 games, batting .259 with 1,401 hits. He also stole 221 bases, a surprising number given his profile as a power hitter.

He took two Silver Sluggers, in 1988 and 1990, the same two years he was named a Sporting News All-Star, and made eight consecutive All-Star teams from 1984 through 1991.

Born in Los Angeles on March 12, 1962, he batted and threw left-handed.
