Born November 16, 1893
Cienfuegos, Cienfuegos, Cuba
He led the Negro National League in runs batted in in 1920 and 1924 and in doubles in 1924. Across ten counted seasons from 1920 he had 728 hits, 52 home runs and 506 runs batted in over 625 recorded games, batting .336, and he went 12-7 in the games he pitched. Six earlier seasons, from 1913, add another 307 hits outside the count.
He played 800 games in the outfield, mostly center. He came from Cuba with the Cuban Stars and stayed, playing for Rube Foster at Chicago through the American Giants' best years. The record is partial because these statistics were not kept with the resources the white major leagues had.
He is supposed to have outhit Babe Ruth in a Cuban exhibition series in 1920, which the archive cannot check. He drank heavily, drifted out of the game, and died of tuberculosis in New York in 1938. The Hall of Fame elected him in 2006 through the special Negro Leagues committee.

Seasons outside MLB's recognized major leagues appear in All seasons, but not in Major leagues or the leaderboards. For Cristóbal Torriente, that is 1913–1919. Why totals can differ.
Cienfuegos, Cienfuegos, Cuba
Cristóbal Torriente made a major-league debut on August 2, 1913.
