Cliff Heathcote Marquee

On May 30, 1922, St. Louis traded him to Chicago for Max Flack between games of a doubleheader the two clubs were playing against each other at Cubs Park. Both men changed uniforms in the clubhouse and played for their new club in the second game, which nobody has managed to repeat exactly since.

Fifteen seasons gave him 1,222 hits, 206 doubles, 643 runs batted in, 191 stolen bases and a .275 average, with 1,157 games in the outfield. He hit 141 hits with 53 runs batted in for the 1926 Cubs, his best season, and played nine years in Chicago after the trade that brought him there.

He finished in 1932 split among three clubs at thirty-four. No Hall of Fame ballot ever listed him. He died in 1939, at forty-one.
