Brady Anderson Marquee

b. January 18, 1964 · Boston Red Sox 1988, Baltimore Orioles 1988–2001, Cleveland Indians 2002

He hit 50 home runs in 1996. His previous best was 21, in 1992, and he never hit more than 24 in any other season. He led off twelve games that year with a home run, which is still the record, and drove in 110 runs, and the question of how it happened has been asked more than any other question about him.

Fifteen seasons gave him 1,661 hits, 210 home runs, 315 stolen bases, 960 walks and a .256 average, with three All-Star selections. He stole 53 bases in 1992 and had a 20-home-run, 50-steal season, which almost nobody has.

Boston traded him to Baltimore in 1988 for Mike Boddicker, in the same deal that sent Curt Schilling east, and he played fourteen seasons for the Orioles. He has never tested positive for anything and has answered the question the same way for thirty years. The 2008 ballot gave him no votes at all.
