Bobby Estalella Marquee

Estalella put together his best season for Philadelphia in 1944, hitting .298 with 151 hits, seven home runs and 60 runs batted in across 140 games. He followed it by hitting .299 with 135 hits and 74 walks in 1945, receiving Most Valuable Player votes.

Nine seasons gave him 620 hits, 106 doubles, 44 home runs, 308 runs batted in, 350 walks and a .282 average. He played 482 games in the outfield and 93 at third base. His 85 walks for Washington in 1942 were his single-season high.

Estalella first reached the majors with Washington in 1935, but his nine seasons were spread across a fifteen-year span. He played for St. Louis in 1941, returned to the Senators in 1942 and then spent four seasons with the Athletics. An eight-game return to Philadelphia in 1949 closed his career. He died in 1991, at seventy-nine.
