Bernie Friberg Marquee

He played third base, second base, the outfield and shortstop in roughly equal measure across his career, never a true regular at any one position but useful enough at all of them to keep a lineup spot for fourteen years. He hit 174 hits with 88 runs batted in for the 1923 Cubs, his best season.

Fourteen seasons gave him 1,170 hits, 181 doubles, 544 runs batted in, 471 walks and a .281 average, with 479 games at third base and 434 at second. Philadelphia had him for eight seasons in the middle of his career.

He finished with Boston in 1933 at thirty-four. No Hall of Fame ballot ever listed him. He died in 1958, at fifty-nine.
