Adrián González began at designated hitter for Texas before moving to first base in San Diego, and later played for Boston, the Dodgers and the Mets, retiring in 2018.
He batted .287 with 2,050 hits over 1,929 games, hitting 317 home runs and driving in 1,202 runs, a durable and productive line across fourteen seasons that included stops on both coasts.
Four Gold Gloves came between 2008 and 2014, along with two Silver Sluggers, recognition of a genuinely complete first baseman's game.
His All-Star selections numbered five, from 2008 through 2015. Born in San Diego on May 8, 1982, he batted and threw left-handed, a hometown player for the club that drafted him.
