Winegarner's busiest season came with Cleveland in 1935. He made 25 pitching appearances, went 2-2 and struck out 41 across 67 innings. At the plate he hit .310 with 26 hits, three home runs and 17 runs batted in across 65 games.
Six seasons gave him an 8-6 pitching record, 89 strikeouts and a 5.33 earned run average in 194 innings. He started 11 games and completed seven. As a hitter, Winegarner collected 51 hits, five home runs, 28 runs batted in and a .276 average across 185 at bats.
Winegarner debuted with Cleveland in 1930 and returned in 1932, 1934, 1935 and 1936. His 1934 pitching line included career highs of five wins, six starts and 78 innings. Twelve seasons outside the majors followed before a final return with the Browns in 1949, extending his major-league span to twenty calendar years. He died in 1988, at seventy-eight.
