Pedro Arango Marquee

Pedro Arango appears in the surviving record in 1925 and 1926 with the Cuban Stars of the West, in 1935 with the New York Cubans, and again in 1939 at first base — three stretches across fourteen years, with the gaps reflecting seasons spent in Cuba rather than seasons not played.

That pattern was normal for Cuban players of the period, who moved between the Cuban winter league and the American summer, and whose careers are recorded on one side of the water far better than the other.

Born in Havana on New Year's Day 1902, Arango batted .261 with 125 hits, nine home runs and 72 runs batted in across 131 recorded games. The date of his death is not established in the sources this archive draws on.
