Mike Lum Marquee

b. October 27, 1945 · Atlanta Braves 1967–1975, 1979–1981, Cincinnati Reds 1976–1978, Chicago Cubs 1981

Mike Lum was born in Honolulu and is among the small number of major leaguers from Hawaii, and he built a fifteen-year career as a left-handed bat off the bench: 877 hits, most of them in the service of a role rather than a lineup spot.

He hit for the cycle for Atlanta in 1975 and, in 1970, hit three home runs in a game against San Diego. Two spells with the Braves bracketed three seasons in Cincinnati during the years the Reds were winning championships.

Born in 1945 and signed by Atlanta out of high school, Lum batted .247 with 90 home runs and 366 walks across 1,517 games, finishing with the Cubs in 1981.
