John Burkett Marquee

b. November 28, 1964 · San Francisco Giants 1987, 1990–1994, Florida Marlins 1995–1996, Texas Rangers 1996–1999, Atlanta Braves 2000–2001, Boston Red Sox 2002–2003

He went 22-7 for San Francisco in 1993, tying Tom Glavine for the most wins in the National League, for a club that won 103 games and finished second. Fifteen seasons gave him 166 wins against 136, a 4.31 earned run average, 2,648 innings and 1,766 strikeouts, with two All-Star selections.

He bowled competitively throughout his career and entered Professional Bowlers Association events after he stopped pitching, rolling several perfect games and finishing in the money on the senior tour. Almost nobody has been a professional in two sports in that order.

He was good again at thirty-six for Atlanta, with a 3.04 earned run average in 2001, and pitched two seasons in Boston after that. No Hall of Fame ballot has ever listed him.
