Joe McGinnity Marquee Hall of Fame 1946

He reached the majors at twenty-eight and won 28 games as a rookie. Over ten seasons he won 246 and lost 142, led the National League in wins in 1899, 1900, 1903, 1904 and 1906, and worked 3,441 innings — an average of 344 a year. He completed 314 of his 381 starts.

Twice for Baltimore in September 1901 and three times in August 1903 he started both games of a doubleheader. New York won all six of the 1903 games. That season he threw 434 innings and won 31; the next brought 35 wins against 8 losses, 408 innings, nine shutouts and a 1.61 earned run average.

He jumped to the new American League in 1901, then jumped back in mid-1902 when John McGraw brought him to the Giants. Brooklyn had won the pennant with him in 1900; New York won in 1904 and 1905, and the World Series in the second of them. He left the majors at thirty-seven and kept pitching in the minors for years.
