Jimmy Dykes played third base for the Philadelphia Athletics for fifteen seasons before finishing his career with seven more for the Chicago White Sox, retiring in 1939.

He batted .280 with 2,256 hits over 2,282 games, driving in 1,071 runs and scoring 1,108 across a twenty-two-season career. He also pitched twice, without a decision, over two scoreless-adjacent innings that still yielded a 4.50 earned run average.

He was a Baseball Magazine All-Star in 1929, ahead of his two genuine All-Star selections in 1933 and 1934.

Dykes's roots trace to Philadelphia, where he was born on November 10, 1896. He batted and threw right-handed. He died on June 15, 1976, nearly four decades after his playing career ended.
