Jimmy Callahan Marquee

Jimmy Callahan threw the first no-hitter in American League history, against Detroit on September 20, 1902, and by then he had already stopped being a full-time pitcher. He won twenty games three times in the National League and then converted to the outfield when his arm went.

He managed the White Sox in 1903 and 1904 and again from 1912 to 1914, left the majors entirely to run a semi-professional club in Chicago for five years, and came back. He also managed Pittsburgh for two seasons.

Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in 1874, Callahan won 99 games with 169 complete games and batted .273 with 186 stolen bases. He died on October 4, 1934, at sixty.
