Jimmie Wilson Marquee

b. July 23, 1900 · Philadelphia Phillies 1923–1928, 1934–1938, St. Louis Cardinals 1928–1933, Cincinnati Reds 1939–1940

Jimmie Wilson caught for the Philadelphia Phillies across two separate stretches of his career, a St. Louis trade splitting them, and finished with two seasons in Cincinnati, retiring in 1940.

He batted .284 with 1,358 hits over 1,525 games, driving in 621 runs and scoring 580, a durable seventeen-season career spent almost entirely behind the plate.

He was a Baseball Magazine All-Star twice, in 1927 and 1929, ahead of his two genuine All-Star selections.

Those came in 1933 and 1935, in the middle of his second stretch with the Phillies. Philadelphia produced Wilson, on July 23, 1900; he batted and threw right-handed. He died on May 31, 1947, just seven years after his last game behind the plate.
