Jim Wohlford Marquee

Jim Wohlford spent fifteen years as the kind of outfielder every club needs and none builds around: a right-handed bat off the bench, a competent glove in left, and a willingness to play wherever the lineup card said.

Kansas City had him for the first five, including the 1976 division winner that began the Royals' run, and Milwaukee for three more. San Francisco and Montreal took the last seven years, and he was on the 1981 Expos club that reached the League Championship Series.

Born in Visalia, California in 1951, Wohlford batted .260 with 793 hits and 89 stolen bases across 1,220 games, and drew 241 walks. He appeared in three League Championship Series across his career without ever reaching a World Series.
