Fred Johnson Marquee

Johnson carried his largest workload for the Browns in 1938. He made 17 appearances, six of them starts, and went 3-7 with three saves across 69 innings. He struck out 24 and completed three games.

Four seasons gave him a 5-10 record, three saves, 39 strikeouts and a 5.26 earned run average in 118 innings. Johnson started 12 of his 27 appearances, completed six games and never threw a shutout.

The Giants brought Johnson up in 1922, when he made two starts, and he went 2-0 across three appearances the next year. Fourteen seasons outside the majors followed before his 1938 return with St. Louis. He stayed for five more pitching appearances in 1939, including two starts, to complete an eighteen-year major-league span. Johnson also collected all six of his career hits during his Browns years. He died in 1973, at seventy-nine.
