Frank Thomas Marquee Hall of Fame 2014

b. May 27, 1968 · Chicago White Sox 1990–2005, Oakland Athletics 2006, 2008, Toronto Blue Jays 2007–2008

From 1991 through 1998 he drove in 100 runs and walked 100 times in every season, eight years running, and he led the American League in walks four times. The 1994 strike stopped his second Most Valuable Player season at 113 games, 38 home runs, and 101 runs batted in.

He was 6 feet 5 inches and 240 pounds and spent the back half of his career as a designated hitter. Injuries took nearly all of 2001, when he played 20 games, and most of 2005, when he played 34 and the White Sox won the World Series. Oakland and Toronto had the end of it.

His 521 home runs are level with Ted Williams and Willie McCovey, and his 1,667 walks are tenth on the career list. He had called for drug testing for years, and he was the one active player who agreed to be interviewed for baseball's 2007 investigation into performance-enhancing drugs. Cooperstown elected him in 2014 on the first ballot.
